Approved biography
The short version.
Mehreen Arshi is a Pakistani-born, Australia-raised writer, researcher, and reader based in Canberra. After fifteen years in scientific research and writing, she turned to fiction to explore family, identity, belonging, and cultural expectation. She is the author of I carry your heart and is currently writing a novel about the 1947 Partition.
Extended biography
Mehreen’s fiction examines the point where private desire meets family, culture, duty, and identity. Her debut novel, I carry your heart, is a family romance set between Pakistan, Australia, and London. She also writes book reviews and literary reflections, paying close attention to the language, character, and craft that make a story stay with its reader.
Her second novel is currently in progress. It follows the long-lasting impact of the 1947 Partition of India and Pakistan on those who crossed, those who stayed, and the generations that inherited the crossing.
